Cardiothoracic Anesthesia

Introduction

The Division is responsible for anesthesia related to cardiac, thoracic, ENT, and plastic surgery. Moreover, we provide out of operating room ambulatory anesthesia and related duties. In addition, the division performs intraoperative transesophageal echocardiography for a significant number of patients undertaking surgery.

Service & Specialty

For decades, our team of cardiothoracic anesthetists are not only proficient with up-to-date medical equipment, but also have been providing state of the art total patient care.
Newer technologies, such as transesophageal echocardiography, have been implemented for patients undertaking cardiothoracic surgery. 3D echocardiography, including assessment of valvular function, cardiac LV and congenital heart anomalies, is regularly performed to optimize perioperative monitoring and patient safety.
The division has put in much effort to develop and improve bronchial blockers in order to assist thoracic surgeries and lung transplantation.
With plastic surgery, we have sought to decrease the number of anesthetic related complications associated with liposuction, breast implantation and face lifting procedures.
For ENT anesthesia, we have broadened our intubating tools and enhanced our capability for management of the difficult airway. We are experienced with anesthesia for tracheal, nasopharyngoscopic and cochlear (implant) operations.
